WHAT TO SPONSOR:

Students’ Education

Students enrolled at HIP Africa come from different homelives. We have orphans, students staying with single parents, students staying with guardians, and those living with both parents. Additionally the level of income is not the same household to household, as we have those families of five or more, who live under one dollar a day. We have those who work casually to earn a living. Given that we are a rural community, employment opportunities are inadequate. Most middle-aged people move to urban centers to seek employment, thus leaving gaps behind. Most of the children don’t get the support and attention required. They feel neglected and lack something in their lives. Our well-wishers are connected to the neediest students to support them. Every well-wisher is updated about the performance of their students termly (that’s three times a year). A well-wisher supports a student’s education by donating $10 a month.

Meals at the center(feeding program)

We also provide meals at the center. Breakfast and lunch are provided every day from Monday to Saturday. The feeding program has proved to be a success to our students’ learning ability and increased academic performance and learning engagement. On the other hand, the feeding program has played a big role in our community. Our students enjoy balanced dietary foods unlike when they miss or out of school. The feeding program is budgeted at $400 per month and this serves 100 students. The donor is encouraged to commit at least $50 per month to keep dietary supply for students when they are in school.

Teachers’ salary

At our center, we have an administrator and 9 qualified tutors registered with the Teachers Service Commission, TSC. Teachers have played a key part in mentoring, empowering, and encouraging our students.

Six of them are of Early Years Education proficiency and take care of our pre-primary, grade 1, 2, and 3 students. They also prepare students to transition to their middle school years. We have 3 more teachers taking care of grades 4, 5 & 6. We are developing a plan to engage the lower and upper secondary grades to complete the Kenyan curriculum system. This will enable full-time monitoring of our students’ future progress. Our tutoring staff payout is budgeted at $1000 per month (for all tutors).
Any donations or commitment to show appreciation and support of the good work done by our tutors is welcomed.

Classroom supplies (stationery)

Since most of our students’ parents live below $1 a day, it directly affects our students’ support from their guardian. Since most of their income goes for domestic use, our students are left without financial support for learning materials by their guardian(s).

To provide solutions, we decided to engage to support in providing them with enough learning materials. This has changed the mode of learning, learning reception and school capacity has been boosted. They also have shown improved learning capabilities. We are glad to receive supplies like writing and reading materials, classwork and play materials, and not limited to, computers/laptops/iPads/ or any kind of learning gadget, desks, chairs, and tables. Here, donations can be done in two ways. Either by shipping any learning materials to our center; or, a financial donation of $200/month to purchase learning supplies.

Games equipment

Since games and sports are crucial of a child’s physical and mental development, HIP Africa tries to see to it that our learners have an opportunity to interact with one another in indoor and outdoor games. However, the biggest challenge lies in getting sufficient equipment to facilitate these activities. We, therefore, call upon well-wishers to take part in donating towards these opportunities.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.

  • To have many water points in the community for easier access to water.
  • Create more advanced washrooms at the center
  • To have water points in the school
  • To drill boreholes in different areas that have a problem with finding clean and drinkable water.
